Spent the day helping to paint a car at Davids Auto and Exhaust in Williamson NC it great to help people in a time of need!!

Working on getting my wheel fixed on the cart, the bearings fell apart. The Beach Club Resort is bing great and helping me to see if I can get it fixed!!!

Good morning everyone!!!! Happiness is......

WOW, what a 2 day span!!! 2 TV interviews, Spoke to over 150 fireman yesterday and then they added me to the opening ceremonies today and I got to speak again, then I spent the day mingling with the top brass and firefighters from all over the country!!! Then the hotel that put me up has a view of the river that is breath taking!!! Did I mention that the cook let me cut the pig!!! Wow Summervillle ,then here boy what a treat and I still have tomorrow!!! I will post some pic's later....lol

Just got interviewed by 2 TV stations here in Charleston S.C.!!! Will be on @ 5 PM and then @ 6 PM!!! Go Smiles!!!

What an amazing week we had at Smile and Wave America! We had both ups and downs during the course of a few days but the good news is: for the most part the down part is on its way up!

Eddy tried leaving the planet during a Breath Workshop at The Red Tent, located Delray Beach, Florida. Miriam Blazova, our breath instructor, did a great job to assure Eddy he wasn’t going to take off out of his body and not come back. He actually had the whole room in stitches because he couldn’t stop laughing and of course we all know how contagious laughter is right? Several of us were laying there on the floor practicing our breathing techniques for one hour straight and floating in our own space when all of a sudden Eddy just burst into laughter. I guess all that good clean oxygen went to Eddy’s head because he was soaring like an eagle in flight! He had an amazing experience and the effect of this breath workshop lasted for days (for both of us)! Prior to the workshop, Eddy was the invited guest-speaker and naturally he did a wonderful job explaining his mission and what Smile and Wave America is all about!

On Friday, we met with Michael McClarey for a video shoot on the documentary at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It was such a beautiful day and the backdrop for the shoot was totally magnificant! Michael did an awesome job placing Eddy in the perfect location to keep from being windblown! Not only did the wind stay at a minimal speed where we were but there was also a large white house in the background which seemed apropos for Eddy's next big adventure! The shoot went well with only a few minor interruptions such as; Large yachts, small motorboats, water taxies, jet airplanes, helicopters, and passerby’ers on the trail. Everyone aboard the water vessels and those on the trail gave us a wave and a smile when they saw the camera. I use to believe that the pen was pretty powerful but when I saw everyone waving because of the camera I had to laugh and now know differently. It’s rather amusing to watch how people react when they believe you might be someone "important". If only they could smile and wave a little more, all of the time!!!! We also hope to see Michael McCleary again and possibly one other VIP, the morning of the walk to D.C. So get ready, get Set, and Roll ‘em to Hillsborough Beach on March 20^th at 8:00am. Come and walk the first mile or more with Eddy!

We've also been busy contacting charitable organizations this week which is part of the plan we are including in Eddy's walk. Would you believe no one has called us back yet? Time's a closing in on us and it almost amazes me that there isn't an organization out there that needs to raise money right now! It really doesn't pay to be impatient about it because we know the right group is going to come along at the right time! We are keeping it positive and maintaining our steps of action to keep us on course.

Speaking of steps! Eddy did an outstanding job putting his walking route on our website. The exact route he will be walking to Washington D.C., is up and running so check it out when you have a chance. http://smilesandwaveamerica.com Here you will be able to watch the progression of the walk and who knows, perhaps join in a radio contest with our version of "Where's Eddy"!! We are also wrangling in a few radio stations along with other forms of the media, to be on the lookout for us. Hopefully they will work with us to do a ‘Where's Eddy Contest.’ We think it will be a lot of fun for everyone to be interactive on Eddy's journey. We were contacted by one radio station that needs to bring our idea to their meeting to vote on.....so keep your fingers crossed for us! We will definitely be shouting it from the rooftops if this all goes through! Send us some positive energy and let's expect it to happen! Wooooooohoooo!

Eddy and I are both preparing for this adventure to D.C... We are both moving things into storage and getting ready to hit the road. We hit a lot of negatives this week but it seems those fires are putting themselves out and the road ahead looks clear! Some transitions are never easy but how you decide to tackle them is also a majority of our message with Smile and Wave America so we are getting a lot of practice maintaining a positive composure. No one ever said it was going to be easy, and hey… why not make it fun and workable as well! Action is definitely necessary when being faced with challenges and so we seek to take the right course and continue on with the journey.

Eddy would like to thank everyone for the warm thoughtful sympathies and all the wonderful facebook postings about the passing of his dog, Flea. Having been there, I know how hard this hit Eddy and Lis. Your warmth and kindness was deeply appreciated during this time and will not be forgotten.

NBC 6 called us today (March9th) and they wanted to know about the “Happiness Journey” to D.C. I’d like to remind everybody that this station also aired Eddy from coast to coast, for Happiness In The Park 2010!!!

Sun-Sentinel also contacted us and is interested in the story. They have previously written 2 articles on “Happiness In The Park” which, was syndicated to other major newspapers across the country.

Festive Week

Smile and Wave America had a very festive week! Although, not all of it was fun and games but we managed to come out on top of things. Certain challenges pushed us into overdrive and Eddy and I kept each other on task and on track!

Eddy did an outstanding job at the Margate Street Festival, where he Em Cee’d the talent stage. A pre-party event took place on Friday evening where we mingled with musicians, band members, volunteers and political members of the community. The food was great, the people were awesome and I won a bottle of wine! The festival itself was full of fun and all the talent that appeared on stage was tremendous. Drummers, ballerinas, martial artists, belly dancers and many others put forth their best to give the crowd a great show! Some of the talent off stage was pretty magnificent also.

The sun was hot, my hair is dry and damaged, and Eddy was almost overcome by fumes from the generator running behind the stage, but we managed to survive the entire event! Thank God, for shade, hair oils and great friends! We would especially like to thank Ally for being so concerned and for being there to support Smile and Wave America. Your presence was greatly appreciated! We look forward to spreading more happiness at this event next year since Eddy was invited back to Em Cee yet again!

We made an announcement last week that Eddy was starting his journey to Washington D.C. beginning on February 28th. After that announcement we were contacted by a VIP who asked us to consider holding off on this walk until they can meet up with us. We did consider the offer and we feel it would definitely be better to wait on this, since what we are waiting for can have a much bigger impact on the overall goal of Smile and Wave America. Sometimes executive decisions are tough but Eddy is still very anxious to get started! We had to take a really good look into the end result and even though it may be a little disappointing not to start walking right this moment, we believe that the timing is perfect and we consider this set-back just one more miracle coming our way! (Actually when we got this phone call asking us to wait, we went out and danced up and down the street and shouted for JOY! We looked really silly!!!) More on this will be revealed as we go along and eventually, you too will see why we made this choice! So please, keep watching and reading our Blog!

One of the questions we have heard a lot this week has been: “How can I become a part of this?” Eddy and I came up with another real great plan to have everyone involved on this journey of Smile and Wave America. We would love your participation and interaction and we are taking action right now to have this all in place for when he begins his steps to our nation’s capital! We are very busy behind the scenes and I’m sure we won’t disappoint you. We have been working 12-16 hours a day arranging details and planning more exciting adventures, workshops, and cool programs we know you are going to love! This was the headline news spread across our Facebook pages last evening to launch our fantastic travels across this great land of ours! Our mission, which, of course we chose to accept, will be to re-ignite the flames of happiness in thousands of cities and towns across the nation. With each step of this journey (literally...ha ha ha, you’ll find out why, keep reading) we are one step closer in raising the awareness, that happiness is a choice!

You have to be just a little bit crazy to take on such a daunting task, however, Eddy fits this bill perfectly! Okay, let’s admit it, he wrote the book on crazy! His dedication in seeing his dream of a happier America is the driving force behind this mission and he is quite determined to see it through. The original travel plans have somewhat changed due to the loss of Eddy’s van (yeah, that’s definitely an understatement) but we are not allowing a little set-back like that, stop the Smile and Wave “Hotrod” from burning some rubber on the road (sneakers that is…ha ha, keep reading). After hours upon hours of figuring out how to keep our plans rolling Eddy said, “Ah the hell with it, nothing is going to stop me, I’m just going to go on foot.” (I guess he decided he needed to step it up some...ha ha) As if this journey wasn’t hard enough, Eddy decides to go and start it on foot. (Are you thinking what I’m thinking too?) Yes, this is nuts but I guess this is also the time when you find out just how dedicated a person can be to living their dream! Wow!

So, the plan is: Eddy wants to see his mother before he goes and he’s going to sell off everything possible and lockdown the dates he needs to return for workshops and speeches, before he hits the road. Eddy has a great idea, of walking all the way to Washington, D.C. and standing in front of the Whitehouse, in his bunny outfit ( yeah…imagine that and the sharpshooters up on the White House roof as well) to make a statement for happiness. Yes, we will be carrying footage of this on our website and documenting the whole trip as well. Oh boy, are we having fun yet? But seriously, if there’s anyone in this world who can do something as far out as this, it would definitely be Edward Rodriguez!

It’s been another exciting week with Smile and Wave America. Things have been pretty crazy in a very good way! There is so much happening and most of it at a fast rate of speed that Eddy and I are absolutely astounded by it all. We are in such complete AWE over how fast we are progressing and amazingly that’s exactly the direction we are aiming for!

Eddy made two (2) radio appearances this week, on The Jill Dahne Show and also on The Heavenly Hotline with Karen Shoemaker and Bernie Tutwiler. He had a great time on both shows and we are talking about starting one of our own for Smile and Wave America!

We have been working endlessly on targeting Sponsorship for our tour across America. This week we got very creative with letters and ideas that would spark a national interest to our cause. Without a doubt, America will be feeling the effects of our movement. As our dreams grow, so does our energy to put it all into action. We can’t wait to officially unveil the plan to everyone who is following us. Unfortunately, for now, we have to keep it under wraps until the final details are in place. We hope you stay as excited as we are about all of this and when we can say something we most definitely will! Eddy did say I could mention this: “It’s going to be huge!”

The disappearance of Eddy’s car didn’t even dent the enthusiasm of passion for Smile and Wave America. Eddy is taking it all in stride and is figuring on having a better ride in place when it comes time to hit the road. As a matter of fact he’s counting on it. I began to think that it was I, who manifested the disappearance of his vehicle because I silently questioned how in the world that old thing would make it across the United States. Seeing how well he’s taking it makes me feel better about what happened and I really don’t mind chauffeuring him around while he’s without wheels. It’s actually been a pleasure and a lot of fun! We both know the vehicle will replace itself somehow, someway and we wait anxiously to see what may come our way. We are hoping for the RV to show up or a tour bus to fit the whole crew!! Yes, I said the whole crew!

Hi, I am the newest team member for Smile and Wave America. My name is Maria Dzoba and I am very excited and honored about being chosen for this wonderful, once in a lifetime, opportunity to work with Edward Rodriguez. I look forward to all the brave and bold adventures unfolding before us. I have to admit, it is in no way normal, working with Eddy but it sure is a ton of fun! Seeing all the lives that Eddy touches is truly an enriching and exhilarating experience. I hope to capture the true essence of all that Edward Rodriguez is, and what Smile and Wave America is all about.

In our blog we will be documenting all our events, happenings and every day fun thoughts about the direction Smile and Wave America will be taking. We would love for you to follow us and track our voyages, road trips, look at our pictures and even watch a few video’s that I am sure will amuse you in a way that can only put a great big smile on your face…..which of course, is our soul purpose.

It’s been a whirl-wind week and naturally, those of you who know Eddy wouldn’t think it would be anything less than pretty darn amazing! We’ve met phenomenal people from everywhere and made many more new friends and we are so thrilled that synchronicity is at play and flourishing more and more on a daily basis. There is a film in the works with our very own Edward Rodriguez as one of the main characters in the film (yes, Eddy is a character) and is advancing on to the next level (that’s all we are allowed to say about that one right now). Hopefully, we will soon have a trailer available for you to see and we will post it to our website for all to enjoy. Last week Smile and Wave America set up a booth at an Art Fair in Boca Raton, Florida and smiled and waved and even shook hands with hundreds of people strolling through the park. It was funny to stand back and watch Eddy in action but after all, action is what Eddy is all about. He made things fun and one after another person smiled and kept smiling after leaving our booth. Smile and Wave America also participated on Thursday, February 10^th, 2011 at the Palm Beach County courthouse along with “Feel The Hugs,” passing out free hugs to all who wanted or needed a hug. Our very own Smile Guy (Eddy) can been seen at his polished eccentric best, hugging jurors, lawyers, sheriffs, and everyday “normal” people (whatever normal means these days). Evelyn Ballin, of The Heart Painter Studio, in Boca Raton, Florida hosted a “Hearts, Hugs and Smiles Day” to celebrate Valentine’s Day on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011. This was another chance to see Eddy in action as he ushered in people from the Green Festival that was taking place a short distance away to casual strollers who were passing by the studio. Eddy used the 3-block rule (if you’re within three blocks of him, he’s going to pull you in) with great finesse to reel the people into the event. Eddy was scheduled to speak once during the day and after he was done, Evelyn approached him and said, “Eddy, what you spoke about was awesome! And look, everybody is still here talking. Would you mind speaking again later?” Of course Eddy obliged and the event turned out to be a heartfelt success! Afterwards, I chauffeured the man of the hour to another event (Gratitude Training) in Lake Worth, Florida, where we met Jo Englesson, Founder of TOFA - Token of Appreciation. Eddy does attract the funniest things. After that event there was a woman who was hanging all over him. I must give him credit, he handle that situation with sincere attention and grace. On the way home I was asked to pull over in the parking lot of Lake Worth Fire Department to let him out.

So I did (I don’t ask too many why’s!) and the next thing I know my phone was ringing and it was Eddy asking me if I wanted to come in and eat a garlic chicken dinner with the fire fighters and EMT’s. At first I was pretty dumbfounded then realized that this was Eddy! During dinner, the crew asked if they could take pictures with us. Unbelievable! They asked us to take pictures with them! So we did. Here’s the best part: I got to take a picture with one of the Fire Fighter Calendar Men!!! Woooooohoooo! I love my job! After spending a good hour or so sharing stories with the guys, we ended a magical day and an awesome week!
